A Classic BBQ Rub for Beef, Poultry, Pork, Burgers, and anything else…
While I am often not a fan of complex rubs and marinades – largely because I like the meat to speak for itself – this BBQ Rub is fabulous on just about anything and doesn’t detract from the flavor of anything you might put it on. It is especially good on burgers and long-smoked chicken and pork.
I usually make this stuff by the Teaspoon and keep it in an airtight container; made to the proportions below, that will yield you just about 8oz, or the size of a standard wide mouth mason jar.
Ingredient List:
8 parts paprika (either smoked or sweet depending on preference)
6 parts ground black pepper
5 parts Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt
2 parts dark brown sugar
1 part granulated garlic powder
1 part granulated onion powder
1 part ground cayenne pepper
1 part MSG (optional)
1 part celery salt
Instructions:
Whisk all the ingredients together in a medium size bowl until well blended. Alternatively, add to a mason jar or medium size Tupperware container and shake vigorously until blended. Make sure to break up any clumps of brown sugar during the mixing process. Store in an airtight container.
